a practical update on the flu vaccination:
Last weekend, I spent--guess where--in bed with the flu! I was miserable so i am feeling very unsure about how I got this. One thing is, it takes at least 2 weeks for the immune system to build a full protection, so maybe I just got it a little late.....?
My signs and symptoms:
low grade to 100 degree fever
goosebumps with sweating
vomiting and diarrhea (12 hours)
and all that comes with it.
does it make you wonder what would've happened if you would've had the shot instead?!
ReplyDeleteIt did make me wonder. Today in Microbiology class, we learned about vaccines. The live "attenuated" virus (in the snorts I received) is actually better for the immune system, boosting the response. And it is impossible to get the flu from the snort (or shot) because they actually morph it so it doesn't even have the capability. Therefore, I got the flu from a large organism carrier of a new strain. Therefore, if I would have received the shot, it wouldn't have had the ability to protect me any better and I would have indeed gotten SICKER because of my boosted immune system.
ReplyDeleteORRR, I could have gotten either vaccine EARLIER and 2 weeks would have been enough for my immune system to completely develop against the flu and I wouldn't have ever felt sick.
Who knows..... :) Good question, Mama T.
what is the general osteopathic stance on vaccines?
ReplyDeleteJonathan researched that. I guess there are harmful additives in most vaccines. While some regulations have popped up to combat that, a lot of vaccines (including the flu) cannot be made without say, Mercury. I think that sounds terrible. Because of the history of osteopathic medicine, it's a given that vaccines were originally excommunicated from the philosophy of the practice.
ReplyDeleteOf course now, there has been a lot of movement away from the philosophy, and better understanding of medicine within the philosophy. So there are many osteopathic doctors who endorse vaccination.
I didn't know about all the poison; I just read about chicken eggs. If that's true, I'm even more against vaccinations.
